family time capsule series

I believe that documenting your family should go beyond the yearly family photo. WHY? Your family at the start of the year is different from your family at the end of a year. Your baby is no longer a baby, but a toddler, crawling and then walking. Those changes and stages are usually lost in digital space, buried somewhere in the depths of endless photos in your phone and they deserve to be preserved and displayed. Let's intentionally set a time and space to capture the fleeting changes of your ever growing family throughout the changing seasons.

These fleeting stages throughout the years tell the story of the evolution of your family, and that story deserves to be saved, not only for us, but for our children and our grandchildren. Intentionally documented for generations.

The family time capsule is a beautifully curated time lapse of your family's growth throughout a year. As often as you like (recommended at least 3 times) we will set time aside and professionally document your sweet family. After the years sessions you're left with a beautiful booklet of your ever changing family.

the here and now

Are you caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life? Let's plan a date with you and your loved ones. I'll tag along, camera in hand and document the toothless smiles, curly cues, and endless love.

We will plan your perfect session to reflect your family in the here and now. Whether it be in your home, or at a beautiful outdoor location, the time will vary.

in-home newborn

Whether it be your first or your sixth, every babe is special. The tiny toes, the stretch and yawn on the changing table, the super soft skin against yours. Let’s document those early days that are quickly forgotten.

These sessions are done in the family home and are all about connection, welcoming the new addition to the family.

Have a question not answered, feel free to shoot me a message!

What time of day do you photograph?

Typically 1.5 hours within sunset or sunrise to catch that golden hour. Of course if it's a cloudy day, it doesn't matter what time of day. If it's an in-home session, I prefer the morning for ideal natural lighting in the home.

What do I wear?

You should look and feel like yourself, so choose something from your closet that you know you feel great in. Being comfortable is everything. Avoid big patterns, logos, or bright colors. Aim for earthy tones, natural fabrics, beautiful textures, and clothing that moves with you. Try not to match with each other and pick colors from the same color palette. For newborn sessions, I have an array of simple onesies, muslin wraps and headbands to choose from for the little one.

Where do you typically do photos?

It depends on the season and weather. Typically I shoot down at the beach, in trails, or random fields. Or we can shoot at your home for more of a documentary feel. Best thing about in-home sessions, they can be done any season!

Where are you located and do you travel?

I'm in the small northern town of Fort St James, BC. I travel often to Vanderhoof and Prince George but would be interested in going further. I'm up for an adventure! Email me your ideas!

Do we need a spotless house for in-home sessions?

Nope! We typically shoot in the living room and/or master bedroom (rooms with the most light), so I just suggest having no clutter in those rooms. Such as removing the phone chargers or Kleenex from the nightstand and hiding the laundry basket. It should be neat and tidy (so the photos are timeless), but you deff don't need to whip out the wet mop and duster! If there's a few toys on the floor, no big deal. I'll move them aside as I frame up your photos as I see fit. Sometimes leaving toys or items helps tell this stage of your life too!

How do we schedule the newborn session when we don’t know when exactly babe will be here?

Typically we schedule the newborn session about a week after the due date. Then as the date approaches, we adjust the date if need be. Sometimes baby’s are early, I get it! And sometimes they are late! The best thing about lifestyle newborn sessions is we can photograph them up until about 6 weeks old and beyond. In lifestyle sessions we don’t need the baby to be super sleepy like the super newborn stage. So if need be, babe can be a little older.

How do I book?

Complete the form on the Contact page and I'll be in touch with you shortly to provide you with a quote designed just for you! After a package is built, you will receive a quick questionnaire and agreement that must be completed to secure your booking. A 20% booking retainer fee is also due. Once confirmed, you will receive access to my client portal that includes a prep guide on what to wear and what to expect. A week before your session we will discuss final details for location.

Samantha did a milestone mini for my kids and they turned out amazing! I was instantly in love with her work, and made sure to book Christmas family photos before she was all booked up! I have found my family photographer, and I can't wait to see what amazing moments she captures for our family next.
